Good News for Our Chapter

22 04 2010

Colorado TU’s statewide conference occurred this last weekend in Redstone. The Five Rivers chapter received some wonderful awards for our work.

First of all, Buck Skillen received an award as “Ourstanding Volunteer” for 2010. This award is well deserved and only scratches the surface in recognizing Buck for what he does for our chapter and local rivers. Congratulations Buck!!!

Second, our big Animas restoration project, completed in the fall of 2009, received the award for “Exemplary Project” for the state for 2009. This project was a collaborative effort including partnerships with Animas Riverkeeper, the City of Durango and DOW’s Fishing is Fun Grant. We all are proud of what we have accomplished and the rising flows point to a well-designed project. We’d encourage you to visit the site during this high water event.
